Playing with the book meme thing, The Cheese Stands Alone mentions several other authors, only one of which do I instantly recognize [Larry Niven, of course, of which I know I have at least 4 books he has writen or co-authored without looking]. Others mentioned include Tom Maddox, Mick Farren, Philip Pullman, and Martha Grimes. Mick Farren has a weblog, and seems currently focused on a possible omen of a black hound. I've read at least the first book of Pullman's His Dark Materials trilogy. It's been a while, and I have no firm memory.
